What are the admissions requirements for Mizzou?

Hello everyone! I'm looking at Mizzou for my college journey but I'm a bit confused about their requirements. Rather than focusing on ACT scores, could someone help me understand what they typically look for in an applicant in terms of extracurriculars, GPA and other non-test related aspects?

In terms of admission to the University of Missouri (Mizzou), they have a holistic admissions process but GPA is a significant consideration. They have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 for residents of Missouri and Illinois, for non-residents, it's 2.75. However, it's important to keep in mind that students who are admitted typically have much higher GPAs; the average GPA of admitted Mizzou students is around a 3.6. As with most universities, the more rigorous your high school curriculum (think honors, AP, or IB classes), the better.

Additionally, Mizzou values well-rounded students who have shown consistent involvement and leadership in extracurricular activities during high school. However, remember that depth - demonstrating passion, commitment, and growth in a few areas - is often more impressive than breadth - participating in numerous activities but at a superficial level. This can range from involvement in sports teams, to various clubs and societies, to volunteer work or experience in a field you're interested in pursuing.

Another important aspect they consider is the essays you write for their application, they're your chance to let your personality and passions shine, giving the admissions team a more rounded picture of who you are beyond grades and scores. Mizzou has specific essay prompt(s) available on their website.

Finally, there's an emphasis on positive letters of recommendation from teachers or counselors who can testify to your abilities, work ethic, and potential for success in college. For the best recommendations, try to ask teachers or counselors who know you well and can speak to your strengths enthusiastically and confidently.

Do remember that these are general factors that they consider and the admissions team also considers other aspects of your application on a case-by-case basis.
