Hey everyone, I'm hoping to apply to Baruch but I'm a bit confused about their grading system. I'm used to a 4.0 scale, but it seems like Baruch might use something different? Can anyone clarify this for me?
Hello there!
Baruch College, like many other institutions, uses a 4.0 grading scale, which is probably what you're used to. The numerical values are as follows: an A is a 4.0, B is 3.0, C is 2.0, D is 1.0, and F is 0.0. However, they also use '+' and '-' variants within this scale that can affect your GPA slightly. For instance, an A- is a 3.7, a B+ is a 3.3, a B- is 2.7, and so forth.
As an applicant, you'll want to try for the highest grades possible, but keep in mind that Baruch, like many colleges, practices a holistic review process for applications, meaning they will look at other factors in addition to your GPA, such as your extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. Best of luck with your application!
