Does a Congressional Nomination guarantee a spot in a Military Academy?

Hi all, I am a bit confused and hope you can help me out. If I manage to secure a Congressional nomination, does that directly translate into a guaranteed spot at a military academy or is there more to it? Excuse my ignorance but I'd appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me.

While obtaining a Congressional nomination is indeed a vital step in the admissions process for U.S. military academies, it does not automatically guarantee you a spot. Essentially, securing a nomination validates your candidature, but it's not an outright acceptance.

After you receive a nomination, your application will then undergo a thorough review by the admissions committee of the specific military academy you're applying to.
