What are the ACT Requirements for Clemson?

Clemson University is a test-optional institution as of the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means you are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores. However, if you feel that your scores accurately reflect your academic ability and potential, you are welcome to include them.

If you wish to submit the ACT scores, here's what you should know. Clemson's middle 50% range of ACT composite scores typically falls between 27 and 32. This means that among admitted students, 25% scored above 32 and 25% scored below 27. To be a competitive applicant, you should aim for an ACT score within (or ideally above) this range.

But remember, standardized test scores are just one part of your application. Clemson also considers your high school transcript – including your GPA, the rigor of your courses, and grade trends – along with your letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, and personal essays. So, even if your ACT score is below Clemson's middle 50% range, these other components can strengthen your application.

Keep in mind that Clemson's admissions process is holistic, which means all parts of your application are considered together to build a comprehensive understanding of you as a student and potential member of their community. So, make sure you're also focusing on your extracurriculars, essays, and other components of your application.
