What are some good colleges near Ithaca, NY?

I want to go to college near my home in Ithaca, NY, because of my family situation. Do you guys have any suggestions or experiences you can share?

Being near Ithaca, NY, gives you a wonderful choice of strong colleges and universities, depending on what you're looking for in terms of size, setting, majors, and campus culture.

Obviously, there are Cornell University and Ithaca College that are right in Ithaca, NY. Cornell is an Ivy League university known for its prestigious programs in engineering, business, and the natural sciences, among other areas. If you're looking for a smaller, liberal arts-focused college where students get a lot of personalized attention, Ithaca College could be a great fit.

Beyond Ithaca, you're within a few hours' drive of many other great schools. For example, about an hour north there's Syracuse University, known for programs in communications, public relations, journalism, as well as several engineering tracks.

Two hours to the east, you'll find Binghamton University, which is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. It's known for being a great value for both in-state and out-of-state students and has strong programs in the sciences, engineering, and liberal arts.

Colgate University is also about an hour and a half away, in Hamilton, NY. It's a small, private liberal arts college that offers a personalized and rigorous education in a broad range of fields from the humanities to the sciences.

These are just a few examples, and of course, the best school for you will depend on your specific interests, goals, and preferences. I'd recommend researching these and other colleges in the region, and consider things like size, academic programs, culture, cost, and selectivity to find a school that seems like a good fit for you.
