Hello there, I've always loved Ithaca and I am serious about going to a college nearby after Graduation. Can anybody tell me which colleges are near Ithaca, NY and how distinguished are they in their respective areas of study? Thanks!

Hi there! Your interest in studying in Ithaca, NY is totally understandable; it's a great place with a vibrant community and rich academic environment. There are two prominent colleges in Ithaca: Ithaca College and Cornell University.

Ithaca College is known for its programs in communications, physical therapy, and music. It offers a different style of learning where students engage hands-on in their fields from the start, a method called "learning by doing". The college has a dedicated School of Music, School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, and Roy H. Park School of Communications, which are all well-regarded.

Cornell University, on the other hand, is an Ivy League with highly distinguished programs across numerous fields. Its architecture, hotel administration, and applied economics and management programs are often considered above the rest. Additionally, It has very strong STEM programs and also excels in humanities like English and History. Being one of the Ivy League schools, Cornell exhibits a strong reputation globally.

In terms of geographical location, both colleges are located within the heart of Ithaca, meaning students not only engage in campus life but also become part of the larger Ithaca community.

Remember, it's not just about the prestige of the school, however, but about the fit and whether the programs offered align with your academic and career goals. Both Ithaca College and Cornell offer unique opportunities, and depending on your interests, both are worthy of consideration. It might be beneficial to arrange a visit to these schools to get a feel for their campuses if you haven't done so already. That way, you can get a firsthand experience of what it's like to study there. Best of luck with your decision!
