What GPA does Purdue look for in applicants?

I've been looking into Purdue's engineering program and hear it's pretty top notch. My current GPA is okay but I'm not sure if it's good enough for Purdue. Can anyone provide some insight on what kind of GPA range Purdue typically accepts?

Purdue University, especially its College of Engineering, is known for its high academic standards. Though Purdue does not explicitly state a required GPA, looking at their most recently admitted class can give a bit of insight about their standards.

Generally speaking, the average admitted student for Purdue's College of Engineering has a GPA in the range of 3.6 to 4.0. However, remember that Purdue, like most universities, takes a holistic approach to admissions. This means that while GPA is indeed important, it's not the only factor the admissions officers are taking into account. Your extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation also matter significantly.

If your GPA is somewhat below the range, you can still make your application competitive through strong engagement in extracurricular activities (especially those that display your interest in engineering), and thoughtful, well-written essays. Furthermore, Purdue University reinstated its testing policy and will continue to require SAT/ACT scores for the 2024-2025 application cycle. So, having a strong SAT/ACT score can also bolster your application if your GPA is slightly lower than the average.

Stay focused on your coursework, and do what you can to maintain or bring up your GPA in the time you have left before applications. And remember, many students attend schools they love that weren't their first choice. The most crucial thing is to find a college that fits your needs and goals, and where you'll be happy and successful.
