GPA Needed for Johns Hopkins University?

Hello everyone, I'm setting my sights high and aiming for Johns Hopkins! Can any of you let me know what kind of GPA I should be aiming for? I'm aware it's competitive but what's considered a 'competitive' GPA for JHU?

Johns Hopkins University is indeed highly competitive, and to maximize your chances of admission, you should aim to have a GPA as near to perfect as possible. Looking at previous admission data, the average GPA of admitted students hovers around 3.9 on an unweighted 4.0 scale. That, however, is just an average, which means some students were admitted with lower GPAs, and some had perfect ones.

It's important to note, as well, that Johns Hopkins, like many selective universities, adopts a holistic admissions process. This means that while your GPA is a crucial part of your application, it's not the only factor considered. Your course rigor, extracurricular involvement, essays, recommendation letters, and test scores (if you decide to submit them) will also be taken into account.

While striving for a high GPA, push yourself to take challenging courses that are available to you, such as Honors, AP, or IB courses, as this demonstrates your ability to handle rigorous academic work. Remember, the quality of your coursework is what matters alongside your GPA.

Best of luck in your journey towards applying to Johns Hopkins! You're setting your sights high which is impressive. Just remember that it's the whole of your application that will be assessed, not just the GPA alone.
