What are the demographics like at MSU?

Hey everyone, I've been looking at Michigan State University for a bit now and I'm super interested. However, I wanted to learn more about the student demographics there. Can anyone tell me more about the diversity and overall student population at MSU? Are there a lot of out-of-state or international students?

Absolutely, Michigan State University (MSU) prides itself on its diverse student body. It attracts students from all across the globe, making its campus a true melting pot of numerous cultures and perspectives.

As of the latest data available, MSU's total student population stands around 39,000 undergraduates, making it one of the larger public institutions in the US. Among these, about 79% are in-state students from Michigan, around 11% are out-of-state students from across the country, and the remaining 10% are international students hailing from more than 130 different countries.

In terms of racial and ethnic diversity, MSU maintains a fair blend too. About 70% of students identify as White, while 7% identify as Black or African American, 7% as Hispanic/Latino, and around 8% as Asian. The rest of the student body represents various other ethnic backgrounds.

Being such a large and culturally diverse university, MSU offers a plethora of student organizations and activities that cater to different cultures, beliefs, and interests. This allows you to find your own community while also learning about and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Remember, a college's demographic breakdown can offer glimpses into its student life and community, but there's no replacement for visiting a campus in person or virtually to experience the environment for yourself. I hope this information was helpful and best of luck with your college process!
