How diverse is Texas A&M University?

Hello everyone! I'm seriously considering Texas A&M for the coming semester, but I value a diverse community. Can anyone provide info about the university's student diversity? Factors such as ethnicity, geography, and even majors would be highly appreciated!

Texas A&M University is well-regarded for its diverse community. As of the recent data, the student body comprises of various ethnic backgrounds with White constituting about 50%, Hispanic/Latino around 23%, Asian just over 11%, and African American about 3%. This speaks to a pretty multicultural environment on campus.

In terms of geographical diversity, Texas A&M attracts students from across the United States and around the world. While a large portion of the students are from Texas, given its in-state tuition advantage, there's a sizeable out-of-state and international population as well.

The university also offers a wide range of academic disciplines, contributing to academic diversity. There are more than 130 undergraduate degree programs in fields spanning from liberal arts, engineering, agriculture, business to architecture. This allows for a rich cross-disciplinary interaction among students and nurtures a wide and varied academic interest.

However, the best way to understand the lived diversity experience at Texas A&M would be to connect with current students or visit the campus, if feasible. This will give you a more personal understanding of the diversity on-campus beyond just the numbers. You may also get in touch with the office of diversity at the university to get to understand their programs and initiatives for maintaining a diversified campus environment.

Remember, the numbers only tell part of the story, your engagement with diverse communities, and how you want to contribute to campus diversity is just as important!
