CU Boulder vs Colorado State: Pros and Cons?

Hi! I've been accepted to both CU Boulder and Colorado State but can't make up my mind between them. For those who considered both, could you discuss why you chose one over the other? Thanks!

Sure, I can provide a general comparison. Do keep in mind that your preferences and priorities could shift the scales one way or the other.

Starting with CU Boulder, it's pretty well-regarded for its research opportunities and has a highly ranked aerospace engineering program, if that's a field you're considering. Boulder as a city is renowned for its outdoorsy lifestyle, with an array of outdoor activities right at your doorstep, such as hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. It also has a lively arts and culture scene. One potential downside to keep in mind is that Boulder can be somewhat expensive to live in, compared to other college towns.

Now onto Colorado State. CSU, situated in Fort Collins, is known for its strong programs in fields such as veterinary medicine and occupational therapy. Fort Collins is a slightly smaller city than Boulder, but it has a strong sense of community and is famous for its brewery scene. It also provides easy access to the great outdoors, similar to Boulder, but at a slightly lesser cost of living. However, some students feel that the town lacks the vibrant nightlife you might find in larger cities.

Overall, the choice between CU Boulder and CSU can depend largely on what you're looking for in terms of your academic and social experience. A good idea would be to visit both campuses, if you haven't already, to get a sense of where you'd feel more at home.
