Baylor vs University of Houston: any thoughts?

I'm stuck between two schools: Baylor and UH. Any thoughts on the pros and cons for both? Especially interested in hearing about campus life and academics.

Sure, I'd be happy to share some insights on both Baylor University and the University of Houston (UH) focusing on academics and campus life!

Academics:

At Baylor, the student to teacher ratio is smaller (16:1), meaning you might have more personalized attention from your instructors. Baylor has strong programs especially in health sciences, music, business, and a noteworthy undergraduate research program.

On the other hand, UH (21:1 student to faculty ratio) is well known for their engineering and business programs. The university offers unique opportunities being in Houston, a city with many industries and corporations, which could lead to internships, co-ops, and post-grad job opportunities.

Campus Life:

Baylor, being a private Christian university, has a strong spiritual life integrated into the campus culture, with chapel services and bible study groups very active. It's a mid-sized university with around 15,000 undergrad students in Waco. Baylor seems to have a very cohesive student body with high participation in on-campus events and traditions. Football games in particular are a big part of the experience.

UH, being a large public university with around 37,000 undergrad students located in a big city, offers a different kind of experience. It has a diverse student body, and with its urban campus, you'll have the city of Houston at your fingertips. Many students appreciate the internship and job opportunities available in Houston, as well as the cultural and entertainment options in the city.

Remember, "fit" is crucial. Consider what size and type of institution you prefer. Visit both campuses if you can, meet with current students, and reach out to the admissions offices to get a sense of what life would be like at each place. Be true to yourself and where you think you'd thrive the most!
