University of Idaho vs Montana?

Hey y'all, it's crunch time and I'm trying to decide between University of Idaho and a University of Montana. Anyone who is familiar with either or can give me some insight about the strengths of each?

Both the University of Idaho and the University of Montana are reputable public institutions, and the choice really depends on your personal interests and study focus.

The University of Idaho is known for its strong Engineering programs. Particularly its Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs perform quite well nationally. They also have one of the top Theater Arts programs in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, the university stands out in areas of Natural Resources and Environmental Science. The campus culture at Idaho is quite intimate and it's located in a smaller, more rural setting, which can be a draw for some students who prefer a more laid-back and tight-knit community feel.

On the other hand, the University of Montana is recognized for its unique and strong programs in Wildlife Biology and Forestry, which give students excellent hands-on research opportunities. Furthermore, they have a well-respected Creative Writing program. Missoula, where the university is located, is larger than Moscow (where University of Idaho is located) and offers a more urban-feel with a vibrant music scene and outdoor activities.

Additionally, you may want to consider the financial aid packages, if any, that you received from each university, and also the cost of living in each location. Both Idaho and Montana have a lower cost of living compared to many other states, but the specifics can vary depending on the city.

Lastly, I would suggest reaching out to current students or alumni through either social media or various student forums to get a better idea of student life and the pros and cons of each school. I hope this helps!
