Hey all, does anyone know if SFSU has a specific GPA calculator or if there's a general one that works for calculating GPAs at SFSU? Any input would be awesome!
Hello! While San Francisco State University (SFSU) itself doesn't have a proprietary GPA calculator, you can definitely use a generic one to get a fairly accurate estimate. Many college resources and college prep websites offer online GPA calculators. Just make sure the calculator you choose accounts for the differences between semester units and quarter units, since SFSU uses a semester system. It's also important that it gives you the option to weight grades, as honors and AP class grades often carry more weight than regular class grades.
To calculate your GPA, you'll assign a point value to each grade (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C= 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0), and an additional point for honors or AP classes (except for D's and F's). Then, you'll multiply the point value of each grade by the number of units for that class, add it all up, and divide it by the total number of units.
Remember, though, a GPA calculator provides a general estimate, and colleges may calculate GPAs slightly differently. If you need a very accurate GPA for SFSU, you might want to contact the Admissions Office directly.
Also, it's worth noting that SFSU, along with other CSU campuses, calculates GPA based on your a-g courses from 10th and 11th grade. Make sure to keep this in mind when you're calculating!
I hope that helps!
