Maxing out College Choices on Common App?

Feeling a bit stressed because I have a really long list of colleges I'm interested in, and I heard there's a limit on the Common App. I'm over here wondering how to add more than 20 schools to the Common App if I decide to apply to more? Is there a workaround or do I have to narrow down my list?

Hey there! I understand the stress of having a long list of colleges you’re interested in - it’s a sign that you’re exploring your options thoroughly. The Common App indeed has a cap of 20 schools. There’s no official workaround to exceed this limit because it’s a built-in feature to encourage students to consider their choices carefully. Adding more than 20 schools is also not practical in terms of the application fees, supplemental essays, and the effort required to tailor each application to fit the college's specific criteria. Plus, you'd really want to give each application the attention it deserves.

Instead of looking for a way around the limit, focus on narrowing down your list. Categorize your schools into reach, match, and safety and aim to have a good balance of each. Consider factors like location, size, majors, campus culture, and financial affordability. This process can help ensure that every school on your final list is one you'd be happy to attend!
