General Inquiry about High School GPA Calculators

Hey guys, I’m a bit stressed trying to figure out my own GPA with all the AP and honors classes. I'm looking to use a high school GPA calculator to simplify things but not sure which one is reliable. Any suggestions?

Hi there! It's totally normal to feel a bit overwhelmed when trying to calculate your own GPA, especially when considering the added weight of honors and AP classes.

There are numerous online tools available for calculating your high school GPA, one of the simplest and easiest-to-use tools available probably is CollegeVine's GPA Calculator. It's a trusted tool that many students find really helpful. It can calculate both your weighted and unweighted GPAs.

You just need to input the number of each type of class you're taking (regular, honors, and AP/IB), along with the corresponding grades, and it'll do the calculations for you. The calculator takes into account the general policy of most high schools where an Honors course increases the grade point one-half point (0.5) and an AP/IB or college course increases it by one (1), so you don't have to worry about that.

However, do keep in mind that each high school may have different policies for how they weight AP, Honors, or other advanced courses so you should double-check with your guidance counselor to ensure that you understand how your specific school calculates GPA. Happy calculating!
