Prerequisites for UF

Hello folks! I am super pumped about applying to the University of Florida. But I'm not sure what prerequisites they have in terms of high school coursework. Does anyone know what their requirements are? Any help would be awesome, thanks!

The University of Florida (UF) has set a list of specific high school coursework requirements that you need to have completed in order to be considered for admission. Here's a breakdown of what they require:

1. English: 4 units, with two units in writing-intensive courses such as composition or literature.

2. Mathematics: 4 units, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Additional units may come from any other higher-level math course.

3. Natural Sciences: 3 units, two of which must have a lab course. Courses can be in areas such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

4. Social Sciences: 3 units, with courses covering topics like world history, American history, American government, and social studies.

5. Foreign Language: 2 units of a single foreign language. Sign language also counts towards this roll.

6. Electives: 2 units from an academic area not listed above or fine arts, performing arts, or practical arts.

Remember, these are just the minimum requirements. UF is a competitive university, and most admitted students exceed these minimums. Keep in mind that AP, IB, AICE, or dual enrollment coursework could be beneficial, and your course selection should still reflect a strong, college-preparatory curriculum that aligns with your intended major.

As always, it's best to check with the university's admissions department to confirm that you meet the latest prerequisites, as requirements can change from time to time. Best of luck with your application!
