How to determine which colleges aren't part of the Common App?

Hi everyone! I'm beginning to organize my college list and I was wondering, how can I find out which colleges don't use the Common App? I want to make sure I'm aware of any additional applications I need to prepare for. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hello! That's a wonderful question to address as you plan your college application process. To find out which colleges do not participate in the Common Application, you can visit the Common App website where they have a list of member colleges. This would be your starting point. Notably, there are over 900 member institutions, but it is important to remember not all colleges participate in this platform. If a school of your interest isn't listed, you should go directly to that college's admissions page. They will provide information on their specific application process and requirements. Moreover, other platforms such as the Coalition Application and the Universal College Application also have participating institutions, and you may want to check their lists as well. Some colleges, especially smaller private or technical schools, may use their own application system completely independently. For example, MIT uses its own application portal. An organized approach, possibly with a spreadsheet, can help you track the different applications and deadlines you will need to manage. Best of luck with your applications!
