How is GPA Calculated at UGA?

Hey folks, anyone here who knows how UGA calculates GPAs for high school students? Just trying to see if they use a special scale or if it's the standard 4.0 thing. Thanks in advance!

The University of Georgia (UGA) calculates prospective students' GPA based on the core academic courses completed in high school. It uses a standard 4.0 scale, but it differs a bit because it considers the rigor of your coursework.

Here's how they calculate it:

- A = 4 points

- B = 3 points

- C = 2 points

- D = 1 point

- F = 0 points

Then, they add 0.5 points for honors classes, and 1.0 point for Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Dual Enrollment courses—treating them as a 5.0 scale.

However, these additional points only apply if you get a C or above in these courses. All grades from repeated courses are considered in UGA's GPA calculation.

Keep in mind that UGA considers a solid academic curriculum and good performance in those classes when assessing your application, not just the GPA. Therefore, challenging yourself with rigorous coursework and performing well will reflect positively on your application.
