How diverse is Notre Dame University?

Hey folks, as a prospective student, I am really interested in knowing more about the diversity at Notre Dame University. Can anyone share what the campus culture is like and how diverse it generally is? Thanks!

Notre Dame University, like many universities, is continually working on promoting and improving diversity and inclusion within its campus community. As of the most recent data available, Notre Dame's undergraduate student body is roughly 60% White, 11% Hispanic or Latino, 5% Asian, 4% Black or African American, 5% are of two or more races, and less than 1% are American Indian or Alaskan Native. Keep in mind this data fluctuates yearly as new incoming classes enroll.

International students also have a presence on campus, contributing to the global diversity. Notre Dame hosts many events through its international student and scholar affairs office, like international education week and other cultural events, which greatly enhance student understanding of global cultures.

Notre Dame has a number of cultural clubs and organizations like the Black Student Association, Latino Student Alliance, Korean Club, and so on. These clubs work actively to increase cultural awareness and celebrate diversity on campus through various events, workshops, discussions, and festivals. Also, the university conducts diversity and inclusion workshops for staff and faculty to better support a diverse student body.

While these are all steps in the right direction, it's still important to note that students' experiences of diversity can greatly vary. Some students may find Notre Dame to be a supportive and inclusive environment, while others may feel there is room for improvement. Checking out student testimonials or speaking directly with current students might give you the most accurate understanding of what you can expect. It's also recommended to get involved and always be open-minded to learn from various cultures and perspectives, this will enrich your collegiate experience considerably.
