How can I calculate my GPA for SFSU?

I'm prepping to apply to San Francisco State University and would love to calculate my GPA to see where I stand. Is there a specific SFSU GPA calculator I could use, or a general method that's accepted? Thanks in advance!

To calculate your GPA for San Francisco State University (SFSU), you could use a generic GPA calculator, as SFSU uses a standard 4.0 scale for evaluating GPAs, just like most U.S. institutions. You don't need to use a specific SFSU GPA calculator.

To get the most accurate figure, you'll need to use the same scale that SFSU does.

Here's how to do it:

Assign each grade you've received a numerical value. On the 4.0 scale, an A+ or A is 4.0, an A- is 3.7, a B+ is 3.3, a B is 3.0, a B- is 2.7, a C+ is 2.3, a C is 2.0, a C- is 1.7, a D+ is 1.3, a D is 1.0, a D- is 0.7, and an F is 0.

Now, multiply this value by the number of credits each course is worth. Then, add up all of these numbers.

Divide this sum by the total number of course credits you've taken.

Keep in mind that this calculation should be done with your unweighted GPA figures (unless SFSU states that they want a weighted GPA). However, they may also look at the rigor of your courses in addition to your GPA.

Also, remember that CSU (Cal State) schools require a minimum GPA of 2.5 for California residents and a 3.0 for out-of-state applicants. This is not a guarantee of admission, but rather a baseline requirement. The average GPA of admitted students can be a bit higher. Good luck with your application!
