Top 10 Easy-Going Majors in College?

Hello people. What are the top 10 'easiest' majors in college according to you and why? Just trying to gauge my interests and workloads here. Thanks!

Hello! I just want to preface this by saying that everyone's experience with a major can be different. Fields that some might find "easy" or "lighter in workload" can be challenging to others, and it largely depends on your strengths and personal interests. That being said, here are 10 disciplines that are generally perceived as having lower workloads or less demanding course structures:

1. Communications: Many students find this major manageable because assignments often involve practical applications such as presentations and small group projects. This major doesn't usually require heavy foundational courses in math or science.

2. Education: Depending on the course of study within the major, education can be a less demanding major, especially at the undergraduate level. The workload includes learning educational theories, creating lesson plans, and student teaching experiences.

3. English/Literature: Reading and writing-centric, this major generally does not involve extensive technical work, lab reports or mathematical equations. But the amount of reading could be overwhelming for some.

4. Sociology: Sociology relies heavily on reading and thematic understanding, but is typically less rigorous than other social science majors like Psychology or Anthropology, which require more scientific analysis.

5. Art History: This major is focused on understanding and appreciating art, so the workload consists primarily of reading, writing, and discussing art.

6. Anthropology: While there can be difficult concepts to grasp in anthropology, the course load usually involves a lot of readings, essays, and class discussions.

7. Theater Arts: Theater Arts often involves acting, directing, scriptwriting, and other creative tasks. The difficulty level often depends on how involved you are in productions, but generally has a lighter academic workload.

8. Philosophy: Philosophy has a reputation for being abstract and challenging. However, the coursework mainly involves reading, writing, and critical thinking, without demanding technical skills.

9. Music: If you are naturally interested and skilled in music, this major can be less demanding. Coursework often includes performance-based evaluations and aural/theory exams.

10. Humanities: This is a broad category, but most humanities majors (like History, Religion, Gender Studies, etc.) mainly involve reading and essay writing, without intense mathematical or scientific content.

Remember, not every student's journey is the same. The "easiest" major for one person might be the most difficult for another. When choosing a major, it's important to balance your personal interests, career goals, and your comfort with the anticipated workload. I hope this helps you in making your decision!
