Deciphering Grading Systems: Is 16/20 a Good Grade?

Hello all, I've been graded on a different scale for one of my classes and I'm trying to figure out if a 16 out of 20 is a good grade or not. Can anyone clarify how this grading scale works compared to the more conventional A+B+ etc grading scale? Appreciate any insights!

Sure, I'd be happy to help interpret your grade. A score of 16 out of 20 roughly translates to 80% value. In a conventional A-F grading scale it usually corresponds to a 'B', assuming that 90-100% is an 'A', 80-89% is a 'B', 70-79% is a 'C' and so on. This is a good grade, generally speaking. However, how "good" this grade is really depends on the expectations and requirements set by your professor or the class itself.

Keep in mind that some classes have a grading curve, where scores are adjusted based on the overall performance of the class. So if many students scored around 16 out of 20, it may change how "good" this grade is considered. I suggest clarifying with your professor or consulting your course syllabus for a better understanding of how your grades are evaluated in this class. I hope that helps!
