Easiest major to pursue in college?

Hey guys, I know this might sound lazy, but what's generally regarded as the easiest major to pursue in college? I struggle a bit with academic pressure, and I want to minimize stress while still getting a worthwhile degree. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

While it's important to reduce academic stress, keep in mind that the 'easiest' major can vary drastically depending on the person. What might be easy for one student could be incredibly challenging for another, depending on individual strengths, interests, and the specific course requirements of the college.

People often say that majors in the social sciences, like psychology or social work, can be on the 'easier' end due to less strenuous coursework compared to, say, a physics or a computer science major. But actually, every major has its own challenges and workload, and a lot depends on the specific course structure and expectations set by each university. A psychology major at College A might have a significantly different set of requirements than at College B, and you must account for that.

In terms of stress, it can help to consider majors where there is a higher ratio of courses grounded in reading, writing, and discussion if you generally find those activities less stressful than problem sets or labs. English, philosophy, history, or sociology could be potential paths. Again, keep in mind the variations across different institutions.

Instead of seeking out the easiest major, it may be more beneficial to find a major that aligns with your specific interests and future career aspirations. Engaging in what you're truly passionate about can make the coursework feel less stressful and more fulfilling! For example, if you are interested in health but find hard sciences stressful, consider majors like public health or health administration. Or, if you enjoy problem-solving but find the rigors of a math main too much, consider a business major with a focus on management or marketing.

Remember, though, a 'worthwhile' degree doesn't necessarily mean it has to be from a traditionally "tough" area of study like engineering or pre-med. There are many emerging fields related to digital media, data analytics, environmental sustainability, and health sciences that can lead to successful and rewarding careers. Set your sights on something you enjoy and can imagine doing in the long term. This route will likely lead to less academic pressure and a more satisfying college and post-college experience.
