Info on small colleges in Tennessee

Howdy. I'm a rising junior beginning to explore colleges and I'm especially interested in smaller schools in Tennessee. I think a smaller environment would suit me best. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences with these kind of schools? Thanks, y'all!

Hello there! It's fantastic that you've identified the kind of environment that you'd feel comfortable in. There are numerous smaller colleges in Tennessee that offer diverse programs and unique atmospheres.

Rhodes College, located in Memphis, is notable for its liberal arts curriculum, and it's often praised for its beautiful campus and small classes which foster close student-faculty relationships. Rhodes often ranks highly for quality of life and community engagement.

Sewanee, The University of the South, is another smaller liberal arts college located in Sewanee, TN. Known for its strong programs in English, history, and biology, Sewanee offers an intimate academic setting. Its location on a plateau of the Cumberland Mountains provides opportunities for outdoor activities.

Another school to consider is Maryville College, which is one of the oldest colleges in Tennessee. Maryville is known for its "rigorous liberal arts curriculum" and commitment to service.

Lastly, there's Lipscomb University located in Nashville. Lipscomb is a faith-based institution known for its programs in nursing, education, and liberal arts.

Each of these colleges has its own unique strengths and unique campuses, but all offer a smaller, more personal educational experience. I highly recommend exploring each of these schools further to see if they align with your values, interests, and career goals.
