Staying In-State: Prospective Colleges with Dorms in Florida?

Hi! I'm a junior from Florida and I'm kinda leaning towards going to college somewhere close to home, but I absolutely want a place with dorms to get the full experience. Does anyone know about colleges in Florida with dorms? Additional info on quality of life in those dorms would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Hello! It sounds like you're interested in having the complete college experience while also staying close to home - a solid choice! Florida has a number of colleges and universities that offer on-campus housing, which will help you have that immersive college experience.

1. University of Florida (UF): It's located in Gainesville and offers a variety of traditional, suite-style, and apartment-style dorms. There are also themed housing opportunities called "Living Learning Communities" where students live in the same complex and take some of the same courses.

2. Florida State University (FSU): At FSU in Tallahassee, there are several different housing options available that range from traditional style to apartment style units. In recent years, FSU has been renovating older dorms, which has increased the overall quality of their housing options.

3. University of Miami (UM): Located in Coral Gables, UM provides students with residential colleges that embody an elegant blend of old and new elements. They also offer special interest housing where you can live with other students who share your academic interests and passions.

4. University of South Florida (USF): USF in Tampa offers several housing options, including traditional style dorms, suite style dorms, and apartment style dorms. Additionally, they have a number of Living Learning Communities you can join.

5. University of Central Florida (UCF): In Orlando, UCF offers on-campus apartments, Greek housing, and traditional residential communities. Their housing services tend to be highly-rated by students.

Remember, the 'quality of life' in dorms can be highly subjective and depends on various factors - like personal preferences and habits. I recommend you take a virtual tour of the dorms, ask current students about their experiences, and read up on the services, facilities, and amenities each of these colleges provides. This will help you make a more informed decision.

Best of luck with your college journey!
