Queen's College Accounting Electives?

Hi, I attend Queens College and was hoping to get advice on which accounting elective to take. Are any of them considered 'easy'? What should I look out for when choosing one?

While it's understandable you might be searching for classes considered 'easy', it's important to keep in mind that the definition of 'easy' can vary from student to student, depending on personal interests and strengths. When selecting an accounting elective, it would be beneficial to consider how the course content aligns with your career goals and areas of interest within accounting.

If you have a keen interest in taxation, for instance, a course in tax accounting might be a good fit and perhaps feel 'easier' due to your inherent interest in the subject matter. On the other hand, if you potentially see yourself working in a managerial role, a class in managerial accounting might better prepare you for the future, despite it perhaps being more challenging.

You can also use resources available to you to make an informed decision. Consult your academic advisor or faculty members in the department, as they will have insight into the specific courses. You can also speak with students who have already taken the electives you're considering.

Student-made course evaluations can be helpful, but always take these with a grain of salt as they represent individual experiences which can vastly differ. Lastly, consider the professor teaching the course. Every professor has a unique teaching style, and you might find you do better in courses with professors whose style aligns with your learning preferences.

Remember, the ultimate goal is to enhance your learning and skill set in your chosen field, so stepping outside your comfort zone and taking on challenges can be beneficial in the long run, even if it doesn't seem like the 'easy' option.
