Help with Gettysburg College Classes

Hey guys, just a heads up, I'm a prospective Gettysburg College student here. In your opinion/experience, which classes at Gettysburg are comparatively easier? I'm just looking to balance my workload well in the first semester. Particularly interested in balancing between core subjects and some easier electives.

It's great to see your proactive approach to academic planning! When it comes to selecting "easier" courses at Gettysburg College, it's crucial to remember that ease or difficulty can be highly subjective and depends greatly on your personal strengths and interests. For one student, a course could be smooth sailing, while for another it could be a significant challenge. Hence, there's rarely a universal "easy" class at any institution.

That being said, some courses are renowned for being manageable and can provide a good balance when you're tackling more challenging classes. For instance, the First-Year Seminars can generally be a good starting point. They're designed for first-year students, are reasonably manageable, and can be a great way to settle into the academic pace.

Additionally, introductory level courses in fields you're comfortable with are typically considered easier as they mostly serve as an overview of the subject. A good example might be an introductory course in a language you've already studied in high school, or a basic psychology or sociology course if you have an interest in those fields.

While identifying these courses, ensure you prioritize classes that are relevant and useful to your degree or career path. Utilize resources like the Undergraduate Bulletin to understand more about the courses, their workload and prerequisites.

Lastly, do consider consulting your academic advisor during your course selection. They know the curriculum well and can guide you in structuring a balanced academic schedule. Also, getting opinions from upperclassmen can be helpful - they've been in your shoes and can provide unique insights!
