Kirkwood Community College Course Advice

Hello! I'm hoping to join Kirkwood Community College and could use some advice. Do any of you know what classes might be on the easier side here? Transitioning from high school seems daunting, and I don't want to land myself in hot water right off the bat. Thanks!

Responding with your concerns in mind, I want to reassure you that it's completely normal to feel a bit apprehensive about the transition from high school to college.

As you plan your academic schedule, it might be helpful to select courses that align with your strengths or interests, as these will naturally feel more manageable. However, that being said, easy is a relative term and changes depending on a student's strengths, interests, and comfort with the course material.

Often, introductory classes provide a good place to start. For instance, courses in disciplines such as Art Appreciation or Intro to Sociology often provide a comprehensive overview of the subject matter and are more accessible to students without a strong background in the area.

Closer to home, consider taking advantage of Kirkwood Community College's student resources - whether it's academic advisors who can guide you through course selection, tutoring centers, or office hours with professors. They are designed to help you succeed!

Lastly, balance is key. It might be wise to mix in some of these introductory or known-to-be-lighter courses with any tougher or major-specific requirements. This can help prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and still keep you on track toward your degree. But most importantly, choose classes that also excite you and harness your curiosity. College is a wonderful time for exploration and learning new things. Remember, every student's journey is unique, so what works for one person might not for another. Best of luck in your upcoming college journey!
