Ease into College Life at Queens - Suggestions?

I'm headed to Queens College and I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed by the thought of college coursework. To ease myself into things, can anyone recommend some classes that are known to be a bit more mangeable? I appreciate it!

As a first-year student, it's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed! Fortunately, Queens College offers a range of courses that could provide a gentler introduction to college-level work while still being thoroughly engaging.

Many students find intro-level classes more manageable as they adjust to college academics. Classes in the humanities (like ARTS 101 - Introduction to Art or ENGL 110 - College Writing) and social sciences (like SOCY 101 - Introduction to Sociology or PSYC 101 - Introduction to Psychology) could be worthwhile options if those fit within your interest areas or degree requirements.

While not an official course, you might also want to look into the QC in 4 program, which is designed to help students develop the skills they'll need to graduate from Queens College on time. Many freshmen find it helps them adapt to the college environment, develop effective study habits, and understand the resources available on campus.

Make sure to have a discussion with your academic advisor (if you're assigned one) or take advantage of drop-in advising offered typically at the start of the semester. They can provide valuable insight and recommendations based on your academic track and your personal strengths. Remember, what might be easy for one person could be challenging for another, depending on their background and interests. And, even "easy" classes will require time and effort to focus and keep up with coursework.

Finally, remember that it's okay to feel a bit overwhelmed. College is a big transition, and it takes time to adjust to the new routines and demands. Everyone's in the same boat, and there are plenty of resources available to support you while you're on this journey. Good luck at Queens College!
