Easiest Majors in College?

Hey gang! I'm a rising junior and beginning to dive deep into college major research. Could anybody share which majors they find to be the most manageable?

Defining the "easiest" majors is pretty difficult because it can be largely dependent on one's personal interests, skills, and academic history. What comes easily to one person may be challenging for another.

However, majors like Social Science, Communications, and English are often touted as being less rigorous, in terms of required classes, compared to majors like Engineering or Physics. English majors, for instance, primarily focus on reading and writing, and while the classes can involve deep analysis and critical thinking, math and hard sciences aren't usually involved.

Communication majors study public speaking, interpersonal and group communication, media analysis, etc. While there is often theory involved, it's not typically as math or science heavy as some other majors. Social science majors can include fields like sociology, criminology, or anthropology. This can involve a lot of reading, research, and essay writing.

However, remember it is not necessarily the perceived "difficulty" of the major that matters most. Instead, consider what subjects you are passionate about and where your skills lie. A major you enjoy and are committed to can feel less difficult and more engaging than one you are not interested in. Plus, your enjoyment and commitment will likely reflect in your academic performance and prospects after graduation.

For example, if you're someone who loves Math and is comfortable with a lot of numerical manipulation, a major in Mathematics might feel "easier" to you than a major in English Literature, which involves a lot of reading and critical analysis. On the other hand, if you're an avid reader who enjoys dissecting texts and conducting analyses, an English Literature major would feel like a breeze compared to Mathematics.

Consider your future career goals, too. If you envision a future in a STEM field, it isn't advisable to take what might be considered the "easiest" route. Just remember that, ultimately, the "easiest" major will be the one that aligns with your interests, passion, and long-term goals.
