Choosing Courses at Evergreen Valley College

My aim is to maintain a good GPA at Evergreen Valley College but I'm unsure about the workload of the classes. Any recommendations on which classes are generally considered less challenging?

It's important to approach your course selection strategically. Your goal in community college should be to take rigorous enough courses that will show universities your dedication to academics when you transfer while still doing well in those classes.

About taking "less challenging" courses, it's important to understand that the level of difficulty can really vary by individual. What may seem easy to one person could be incredibly demanding to another based on their existing knowledge, interests, and strengths. For example, a history buff might find a history class easy, while a math whiz may struggle with recollecting dates and analyzing primary sources.

That being said, popular "easy" courses often include introductory classes in communication studies, art or music appreciation, and physical education classes. But please note, while these classes might be less challenging content-wise, they can sometimes require a higher time commitment with projects, papers, or performances.

If you're looking for classes that align with your degree plan and also tend to have generous grading policies, you might want to consider classes in disciplines such as sociology, education, or health science.

One good strategy could be to mix your semesters with a few challenging classes and a few not-so-rigorous classes. This can help you maintain a good GPA while also growing academically. Always refer to your degree audit or graduation plan to ensure the classes you're taking are in line with your academic and transfer goals.

Lastly, talking to other students, academic advisors, and even professors could provide you with valuable insights into which courses might align best with your academic abilities and aspirations. Student reviews on certain courses and professors can often be found online as well. Good luck with your course selection!
