Low PSAT Scores and What They Mean

Feeling a little down because my PSAT score wasn't great, which has me worried about the SAT. For juniors who have been through this, how do you determine what is a 'low' PSAT score, and what did you do to improve?

Firstly, try not to be too harsh on yourself; a PSAT score is not an end-all-be-all indicator of how you'll perform on the SAT. It's typically considered a practice test, providing a baseline to work from. A 'low' score can be subjective and might be identified as a score significantly below the college entry averages you're aiming for.

Staying optimistic and proactive is key. You might not be thrilled with your initial PSAT, but you can use it to channel your preparations. Your results can help you focus on your weaker areas, which you may identify through the detailed score report. Online resources can be beneficial; there are free questions and practice tests available.

Additionally, you may also join a study group to stay motivated and learn from peers. Over time, with consistent efforts, your scores can improve, not just in practice but also on the actual SAT. Remember, dedication and the right strategies can lead to improvement, so keep your spirits up and keep practicing!
