Easy and beneficial college minor?

I'm currently a junior and thinking hard about which minor I should take once I get into college. Does anyone have suggestions for easy and beneficial minors that can supplement my major (which will likely be in the Humanities)? What are your experiences with college minors and how have they helped you in your career?

It sounds like you are being very proactive in planning for your university studies. Identifying a minor that will supplement a humanities major can be a strategic move!

One widely appreciated minor is Business or Entrepreneurship. These can offer valuable skills like marketing, finance, or management which are often applicable in a wide range of careers. Plus, these skills can make you more marketable to employers who value a blend of "soft" humanities skills and "hard" business acumen.

Computer Science is another useful minor if you're looking to diversify your skillset. Even a basic understanding of coding or digital systems can be extremely helpful in almost any field.

Alternatively, you may also consider minoring in a foreign language. Not only will learning another language provide you with an additional skill, but it can also open up opportunities for international work or study.

Finally, remember that the significance of a minor can often depend on personal interest – it won’t do much good to minor in something you find incredibly dry or uninteresting! So, choose a subject that you like or are curious about.

As for experiences with minors, the benefits vary for everyone. For some, it has helped broaden their skill set and open up unexpected career possibilities. Others have benefited academically, as it gave them a fresh perspective on their major. It's important to remember, though, that a minor is a supplement to your major and won't necessarily make or break your career. But it definitely can expand your horizons!
