Picking Science Courses for Non-Science Majors

Hey, hope everyone is doing good! So, my college schedule requires me to take a science unit even though I'm not a science major. Given the circumstance, what's the easiest science course to take at college?

Hello! Depending on the college's course offerings, you can usually find some science courses that are geared specifically towards non-science majors, which might be ideal for you.

One of those classes could be "Introduction to Astronomy." Typically, this course focuses on the fundamental concepts of the universe, including the solar system, constellations, galaxies, and even black holes. It's often less math-intensive and more conceptual.

"Environmental Science" or "Earth Science" are also traditionally more accessible to non-science majors. They usually cover a broad range of subjects related to environmental conservation, climate change, and the earth's physical processes. You'll learn how to apply critical thinking skills to environmental challenges, which could be helpful in numerous career fields.

"Psychology" as a science course could fit, too. While it's a social science, many universities designate psychology as fulfilling a science credit. Topics are usually related to behavior, emotions, perception, and cognition — subjects more likely to pique the interest of non-science majors.

Of course, each person's definition of "easy" varies. Choose a course that both piques your interest and aligns with your strengths. If you're curious about the night sky, astronomy might sound far more engaging than geology, for example. Engaging material can make studying seem less tedious, and previous exposure or knowledge to the subject matter could also help lighten your learning load.

Just don’t forget to check the course's syllabus (if available) to fully grasp the scope and demands of the class before making your decision.
