Serving as Military Police: The Best Fit

Hey, this might sound cliché, but I always wanted to serve as a military police officer. I wondered if anyone has suggestions on which branch to join for this role?

Choosing the right branch of the military for a career as a military police officer truly depends on what you're looking to gain from the experience.

The Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines all have military police units, each with their own sets of responsibilities and training.

In the Army, military police protect the lives and property on Army installations. They conduct patrols, implement security measures, control traffic flow, and prevent crime. As part of their duties, such officers engage in combat operations as well.

The Air Force Security Forces, the Air Force's equivalent of military police, perform many of the same duties as Army MPs. However, they also provide more specialized security, like air base defense, missile security, and antiterrorism measures.

The Marines' version of MPs, called the Marine Corps Police, do very similar work to Army and Air Force MPs, with perhaps more emphasis on combat readiness.

Navy Masters-at-Arms enforce rules and regulations, maintain good order and discipline, and protect life and property. Their duties might also include force protection, physical security, and law enforcement duties aboard naval installations.
