Finding out about Combat Deployments in Different Military Branches

Hey everyone, I'm considering joining the military. Been wondering, though, which branch has the most combat deployments?

While it's great that you're considering serving in the military, it's important to remember that the likelihood of being deployed can fluctify based on global events, the geopolitical landscape, and the area of military speciality you join, rather than strictly just the branch of service.

However, historically, it's often the case that the Army and the Marines are the two branches most likely to see combat deployments. This is because they're the largest branches and have the most Combat Arms (infantry, armor, artillery), which are the first to be sent into conflict zones.

The Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and recently established Space Force work more in support roles. That said, they also have roles that bring service members in close proximity to combat. For example, the Air Force has pararescue jumpers who often go into dangerous situations to rescue downed pilots.

Ultimately, each branch has different areas of expertise and types of operations. More so than focusing on the likelihood of combat, you should consider which branch aligns most closely with your skill set and interests, and the kind of missions or roles you'd like to take on. You should speak with a recruiter and ask about the specific roles available in each branch, and how frequently those roles are deployed, to help inform your decision. Keep in mind that there's no surefire way to predict exactly whether or how often you'd be deployed.
