Which Military Branch Has the Most Boats?

Hello, just wondering out of curiosity. Does anyone know which U.S military branch has the highest number of boats? I'm interested in naval engineering and hoping to learn more about opportunities in each branch.

The United States Navy is the branch with the highest number of operational vessels, which includes aircraft carriers, submarines, patrol boats, and other types of ships. This makes sense due to their primary function being naval warfare and operations at sea. A focus on maritime operations inevitably requires a large fleet of vessels.

That being said, it's not only the Navy that deals with boats. The Coast Guard also has several types of boats and ships, including cutters and patrol boats - although the Navy's fleet is significantly larger. If you're interested in naval engineering, both could provide engaging opportunities.

For example, the Navy has a variety of roles that may be of interest, such as Naval Architects (who are involved in the design, construction and repair of naval vessels) or Marine Engineers (who work on the mechanical systems, like engines and propulsion).

On the other hand, the Coast Guard also provides opportunities for Marine Engineers and Naval Architects to work on their fleet.

No matter which branch you're considering, I'd recommend researching more about each branch's related roles to get an idea of what might be a good fit for your career interests and goals. For example, you might want to look into the specific pathways to becoming a naval engineer in each branch, the types of vessels you'd be most likely to work with, and even where you'd potentially be stationed.
