Looking for the safest US military branch to join?

With everything going on in the world right now, safety is key for me. I know joining the military comes with risks but are there branches that are generally considered safer than others? Thank you in advance for any advice.

The safety of a particular branch in the military largely depends on various factors like the role you're engaging in, training, and deployment circumstances. However, historically, people may perceive the US Air Force or the US Coast Guard to be the 'safest' options compared to other branches. This is due to the specific nature of the roles and missions these branches usually undertake.

Let's break it down:

1. The US Air Force: Many of their roles involve intelligence, surveillance, and technology-focused tasks. While there are some operational roles which come with higher risks, many positions in the Air Force involve supportive and infrastructural work, making it comparatively safer.

2. The US Coast Guard: The Coast Guard's primary roles include maritime rescues, law enforcement, environmental protection, and keeping waterways navigable. As such, they're often considered less directly involved in combat compared to branches like the Army or Marine Corps.

However, it's crucial to understand every role in the military comes with some risk of harm, and this doesn't mean there is no danger in the Air Force or Coast Guard. Please also keep in mind, choosing a military branch shouldn't be solely about safety. Consider the branch's overall mission, the roles you are most interested in, and what branch can provide the best career opportunities for your interests and skills. Speak to a recruitment officer or consider reaching out to individuals in these branches to gain more personal insights.
