What's the scoop on USD's campus?

I'm serious about applying to the University of San Diego (USD). Still, I've heard mixed reviews about its location. Is it in a safe area? Are there plenty of things to do nearby or would I be stuck on campus most of the time? Anything else I should know about the location would be super appreciated!

The University of San Diego sits on a beautiful 180-acre campus located in the heart of the city, where you enjoy views overlooking the San Diego Harbor and skyline.

Operating from a location within a large urban city, it is important to exercise general caution for personal safety, as with any city. However, USD itself is in a safe neighborhood called Linda Vista. It's predominantly residential with families and a strong sense of community. Campus safety is a significant priority at USD, with there being several safety measures in place, including a 24/7 campus safety department, well-lit pathways, and immediate access to emergency help boxes throughout the campus.

As for things to do, San Diego, being a large, bustling city, has a lot to offer. You are never far from the beach or the famous San Diego Zoo. Then there's Balboa Park, which is a hub for art and culture with various museums and exhibitions. You'll also find a number of restaurants, cafes, shops, and bars in areas like Old Town, Downtown, Hillcrest, and Little Italy, which aren't far from the campus.

Also, a significant advantage of studying at USD is the proximity to numerous businesses and corporations nearby. This could lead to exciting internship and job prospects. So, not only will you be receiving a quality education but you'll also get a chance to venture into the real world and get hands-on experience before you even graduate.

Overall, being "stuck" on campus is highly unlikely given its urban location and the multitude of activities available. However, it is always a great idea to visit the campus yourself if you have the opportunity, as personal comfort is key when choosing a college. Good luck with your college search!
