Colorado Springs Military Academy

Hey everyone, I've heard there's a military branch with an academy in Colorado Springs. Which one is it, and if anyone knows more details about it or attends it currently, what has your experience been like? I'm very interested in it - thinking it might be a good path for me.

The military academy located in Colorado Springs is the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). As one of the five U.S. service academies, the USAFA provides rigorous officer training for the United States Air Force and newly formed Space Force over a four-year program.

Students, commonly known as "cadets," undergo an academically rigorous curriculum with a firm foundation in a variety of disciplines such as engineering, social sciences, basic sciences, and humanities-leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Alongside academics, cadets also partake in military training, athletics and character development programs to ensure they are well rounded.

Acceptance is quite competitive, requiring strong academic grades, leadership experiences, physical aptitude, and a Congressional nomination. The academy itself provides a full scholarship to all cadets including tuition, books, room and board, and even a monthly stipend.

As for the experience at the academy, it can be intense and demanding, yet incredibly rewarding. The first year is known to be quite challenging as it involves more stringent rules and physical and military training to facilitate the transition from civilian to military life. However, over the years, cadets generally find areas where they excel and can become leaders themselves.

Lastly, it's crucial to remember that graduation means commitment to service. Once you graduate, you will be expected to serve in the Air Force or Space Force for a minimum of five years. If the military is a path you're seriously considering, this institution provides one of the most comprehensive training programs in the country.
