What's the difficulty ranking of college majors?

I've been hearing a lot about the relative difficulty of different college majors, but it's tough to find an accurate ranking. Where could I find a reliable ranking of college majors from easiest to hardest?

It's important to note that the perceived difficulty of a college major can vary significantly from person to person. It's often based on a student's individual strengths, interests, and the amount of effort they are willing to put into their studies. What one student finds easy, another student might find challenging, so subjectivity plays a huge role.

Moreover, the difficulty of a major can also significantly differ from college to college. A physics major at one school may be far more demanding than at another, based on factors like faculty, resources, rigor of the curriculum, etc.

That being said, some studies have looked at objective factors like the average GPA of students in different majors, the number of hours students spend studying outside class, or the dropout rates in each major. These studies tend to suggest that some of the more challenging majors may include engineering disciplines, physics, chemistry, and pre-medical tracks. On the other hand, majors like education, social work, or some business disciplines might be perceived as "easier" due in part to higher average GPAs and less outside studying time.

However, It's vital to keep in mind that studying something you are passionate about often results in better academic performance, regardless of "difficulty". So, it would be more beneficial to choose a major based on your interests and long-term career goals rather than its perceived difficulty. In the grand scheme of things, a challenging major that aligns with your career aspiration is a much better choice than an "easy" one that doesn't help you reach your ambitions.
