Ranking Colleges in Cornell: Easiest to Hardest Admissions

Hey everyone, I'm seriously considering applying to Cornell University, but I've been hearing much about the difference in competitiveness across its colleges. Could someone provide me with a ranking from easiest to hardest to get into college in Cornell? It might help me decide which to apply to.

Sure, I can give you a general sense of the competitiveness of each of Cornell's eight undergraduate colleges. However, keep in mind that "easiest" and "hardest" are relative terms and temper this information with the alignment of each college's curriculum with your interests and goals. Here they are:

1. College of Human Ecology: Known for majors like Human Development & Family Studies, offers degrees at the intersection of social sciences, design, and health.

2. College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: One of the top agricultural and applied economics programs in the world with majors also in animal science, entomology, and environmental science.

3. School of Industrial and Labor Relations: Specializes in the study of work, employment, and labor.

4. College of Architecture, Art and Planning: Difficult due to the portfolio requirement, but accepts a slighter higher percentage of students than the colleges below.

5. Brooks School of Public Policy: The newest school at Cornell that is focused around public policy and health care policy already has a fairly competitive admissions process.

6. School of Hotel Administration in the SC Johnson College of Business: One of the best programs dedicated to hospitality globally, it is selective but accessible if you demonstrate a commitment to the field.

7. College of Engineering: This college is highly rigorous, and therefore highly selective, but it is not the most selective college at Cornell.

8. College of Arts and Sciences: Actually the most selective of all the colleges, despite it being the largest college at Cornell, due to the attractiveness of its diverse liberal arts curriculum.

Remember, don't base your decision entirely on ease of entry. Make sure to also consider the aligned majors in the listed colleges and how they tie into your academic and professional goals.
