Missed the PSAT: Is There a Second Chance?

Feeling a bit anxious here. If I can’t take the PSAT on the official testing day (got a family thing that might conflict), is there a chance I can take it on another day? Like, do they offer a makeup day for situations like this?

Absolutely, there's no need to stress too much about this. It's understandable that conflicts can arise, and the College Board does provide options for students who can't make the initial PSAT test date. Typically, there are alternate test dates offered, often referred to as the 'alternate day' or the 'makeup day.' You will need to check with your school's testing coordinator or counseling office to find out if they're hosting an alternate PSAT test date and if you're eligible to take it then.

If an alternate date isn't available at your school, or you missed that as well, don't worry too much. The PSAT is a preparatory step for the SAT and acts as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship. If you're aiming for the scholarship, it's important to make the alternate date if possible. But for SAT practice, there are plenty of other resources and practice exams available to help you prepare for the actual SAT. And remember, the SAT and ACT are offered several times throughout the year, giving you multiple opportunities to sit for those exams. Make sure to prioritize your SAT/ACT prep, as those scores will be an important part of your college admissions process. Best of luck, and remember that one test isn't the be-all and end-all!
