Easing into Organic Chemistry

I'm facing the dreaded organic chemistry class next semester. However, I heard that taking it at a community college can make it more manageable. Any advice on finding an easy place to take it?

It's definitely understandable that you want to find the best environment to tackle Organic Chemistry, given how challenging it can be. Taking a class at a community college could be a good strategy for a number of reasons. Community colleges often have smaller classes which facilitates personalized attention and a slower pace than universities.

But it's vital to remember that the complexity of the subject remains and therefore, a primary focus should be on understanding the concepts thoroughly rather than searching for an easy route. Organic chemistry forms the basis of many advanced courses and professions in the science field, especially in medicine and research.

If you consider going the community college route, ensure the credits are transferable to your main college or university to avoid taking the course again. Check with your academic advisor before making this decision.

Regarding finding the right community college, it's worth reaching out to students who've taken Organic Chemistry at community colleges and ask about the quality of instruction, workload, level of support, and their overall experience. From this, you can draw some conclusions on where you might want to apply.

Additionally, take your learning style into account when making your decision. Some people learn better in a slower-paced environment with more support, while others thrive in more rigorous and competitive classes. Knowing your learning preferences will greatly help in making this decision. Good luck!
