Feeling Overwhelmed: What Colleges Have Easier Applications?

I'm just starting to delve into applications, and some of them seem really complex. Does anyone know of colleges that have more straightforward, easy applications I can start with? Just to ease myself into this whole process.

Definitely, there are many schools with simpler application processes compared to the more selective institutions. Here are some options I can recommend:

1. Schools That Use the Common Application: Many colleges - over 900, in fact - use the Common Application, which involves filling out one main application that is sent to all participating colleges. This can simplify the process as it allows you to complete one application for multiple schools, cutting down on some of the work. You'd just need to complete the school-specific supplement questions.

2. Colleges Without Supplemental Essays: Some colleges do not require additional supplemental essays, which makes their application process faster than usual. For instance, Northeastern University, Middlebury College, and Wesleyan University are a few examples of such schools.

3. Colleges That Are Test-Optional or Test-Flexible: Many schools have started adopting test-optional or test-flexible policies (specially due to the pandemic), which means you don't necessarily need to submit SAT or ACT scores. This can relieve some of the stress associated with preparing for and taking standardized tests.

4. Schools With Rolling Admissions: Colleges with rolling admissions evaluate applications as they come in and usually notify you of their decision a few weeks afterwards. This can be less stressful as you don't have to worry about strict application deadlines. Universities like University of Arizona and Penn State University use rolling admissions.

Just remember that the process is a marathon, not a sprint. Taking it one step at a time can make things a lot more manageable. Also, don't forget to take advantage of resources available to you, like guidance counselors and informative platforms like CollegeVine, to help you through this journey. Good luck!
