University Majors with Less Rigor?

I'm really worried about how challenging university is going to be. Has anyone found a major they think is easier, or at least more manageable, than others? I'm just trying to avoid constant overwhelming stress best I can.

Deciding your college major based on its perceived rigor can be tricky, as it heavily depends on your personal interests, strengths, and career goals. What may seem ''easy'' to one might be challenging to another due to different aptitudes.

Typically, majors in the humanities, social sciences, or communications are considered to be less rigorous in terms of their technical or quantitative demands compared to some majors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or Pre-Med. For example, an English major, which focuses on reading, writing and interpretive skills, might seem less challenging to those who excel in verbal and analytical skills.

However, it's worth noting that the ''easiest'' path isn't always the best one. Any degree can be demanding if you are not interested in the subject matter, so it's essential to balance your interest and strengths besides considering the workload and difficulty level. You might also want to consider how well your major aligns with your post-graduation career goals.

In truth, the level of stress or challenge is more likely dictated by factors like time management skills, study habits, class size, the professors you have, and how well the subject aligns with your own learning style and interests.

Ultimately, the key is to choose something you are passionate about, as this tends to make the work feel less like a chore and more like a fulfilling endeavor, no matter how rigorous it might be. Universities also offer ample academic support resources, such as tutoring, study groups, and office hours, to help manage the workload and stress.
