Looking for an easy major at University of Iowa

Hey guys, so I'm about to start at the University of Iowa and I'm undecided about what field to major in. While I'm not looking for a 'blow-off' major, I am hoping for something that's a little lighter on workload. Any suggestions?

While it wouldn't be correct to label any college major as "easy", some majors can indeed offer a more manageable workload than others, depending on a student's strengths and areas of interest. At the University of Iowa, you might want to consider the following options:

1. Communications Studies: This is an interesting major where you'll study how to communicate effectively in different contexts which includes public speaking, intercultural communication, persuasion, and more. Many students find this program manageable and rewarding at the same time.

2. English: If you enjoy reading and writing, then this major might come naturally to you. Most of the assignments will be about analyzing literature and writing essays which doesn't typically require late-night lab sessions or problem sets.

3. Geography: A great pick for students who love studying about different cultures, physical earth, and environment. Coursework involves studying data, maps, and relatively less time-consuming lab work.

Remember that while the overall difficulty level of a major can sometimes be lighter, it also depends largely on how well you connect with the material and how fascinated you are by it. It's always a good idea to pick a major that aligns with your personal interests and long-term career goals because that will keep you motivated throughout your college journey and potentially lead to fulfilling job opportunities post-graduation.

Do attend beginning-of-semester classes and try multiple subjects to get a feel for what you might like and can handle. The first few weeks are typically when students are expected to explore and finalize their course load. Talking to upperclassmen or academic advisors about your interests might also help you make your decision. Just make sure to balance your interests with your academic strengths and career aspirations.
