Least Rigorous Majors at Illinois State University?

Does anyone have any insights about the least rigorous majors at Illinois State University? I got accepted (so excited!) and I'm considering my major options. Any advice would be really helpful!

First of all, congratulations on your acceptance to Illinois State University! Deciding on a major is indeed an important step in your college journey.

It's important to note that the term "rigorous" can be subjective, as it can greatly depend on an individual's abilities, interests, and work habits. A major that is perceived as "easy" or "less rigorous" for one student may be highly challenging to another, and vice versa.

That said, I think it's more beneficial to consider which majors you're truly interested in or those aligning with your career aspirations. Consider what you love studying, possible occupations you have in mind, and which majors could set you up for success in those fields. Illinois State University offers a wide range of majors, from accounting and biology, to education, to theater and dance, to name a few.

Nevertheless, if you would still like an answer to your original question, based on anecdotal reports, some students claim that some humanities and social science disciplines like Sociology, Communication Studies, and Art may require less study hours compared to STEM majors like Engineering or Physics. But remember, less study hours doesn’t make these majors "easy". They have their own challenges and require a set of skills that might be different from those required in STEM fields.

In sum, it's pivotal to choose a major you're passionate about, regardless of perceived rigor. After all, you'll be dedicating substantial time and energy into your chosen field, so it should ideally be something you find interesting or rewarding.
