Is a 890 a decent PSAT score, or should I be concerned?

Got my PSAT score and it’s 890. I’m not sure how to feel about it because I don’t really know what constitutes a good score. Should I be worrying right now or is this average for a high schooler? Could use some perspective or tips for improvement!

Hello there! It's natural to want to understand where you stand with your PSAT score. An 890 is below the national average, which is usually around 1000. However, it's important not to get discouraged. The PSAT is a practice test and a great tool to help gauge areas where you can improve. For perspective, PSAT scores can range from 320 to 1520.

I suggest looking at the score report to identify your strengths and weaknesses. This way, you can tailor your study plan to focus on areas that need the most improvement. Additionally, consider using free online resources, like Khan Academy, which offers test prep specifically tied to the PSAT and SAT. Besides, the College Board also provides sample questions and practice tests that can be helpful.

Remember, it's less about the number itself and more about what you do with the information you've gained from the test. With dedicated practice and perhaps some guided support if necessary, you have a lot of room to grow your score before you take the SAT. Keep working at it, and don't hesitate to reach out for additional resources or support. You’ve got this!
